CURRENT STUDENTS
Residence Halls will open at 9 AM on Saturday, January 11, 2025 for students to return to campus for Spring 2025.
Early arrivals will receive official communication from Residence Life and Housing. We are unable to approve individual early arrival requests.
STEP 1: CHECK-IN
Get your room key and let us know you’ve arrived
- Students who lived on-campus during the Fall 2024 semester will not need to check-in, but can report straight to their building.
- Students who did not live on-campus during the Fall 2024 semester, we ask you to review the check-in instruction email sent to your @wfu.edu email address.
- You will need your student ID or another photo ID if you don’t yet have/have misplaced your student ID.
- Any student checking in must be in compliance with University policies.
STEP 2: PARK AND UNLOAD
Head to your residence hall, unload your belongings and relocate any vehicle(s)
- Pull your vehicle into a designated unloading zone closest to your community.
- Unload and identify your belongings at the curb, and make sure you’ve moved your vehicle to a parking lot to free up that space for another resident.
- Do not park in handicapped spaces, fire lanes, service areas, driving lanes, roadways, sidewalks, on the grounds, or any other area not designated for parking.
- Check weather forecasts and plan accordingly. Bringing umbrellas and plastic for covering your belongings would be a good idea if rain is in the forecast.
- Plan accordingly to move your items. Availability of hand trucks will not be available.
STEP 3: MOVE INTO YOUR ROOM
Set up your space and make sure you have what you need
Settling In
- Introduce yourself to the community staff.
- If you are moving into a new room, you will receive an email asking you to fill out your Room Condition Report (RCR) via the Housing Portal.
- Take a few minutes to inspect your room to see if there are any discrepancies between your RCR and the actual condition of your room. If there are discrepancies, you must notify your Resident Adviser (RA) within 48 hours to ensure that you will not be financially accountable for pre-existing damages upon your check-out.
Each Residence Hall page details what will be in your room upon arrival and provides approximate room dimensions.
NOTE: Measurements for items listed help you get a sense of your space. Each room is unique and varies in dimensions, sometimes considerably.
Tip: Winston-Salem has many popular retail stores – we suggest seeing your space before purchasing everything you think you might need!
