The Holidays are here, and soon that means many of our Deacs will be coming home! As we near the Winter Break, we have some friendly reminders to help our Deacs prepare for an extended break away from campus and the Spring 2025 semester ahead (crazy, we know!).

As students prepare to leave for the break, we encourage them to check their emails regularly, as we’ve sent instructions for best practices to consider when preparing their rooms for the break. You can find our most recent message here. Be sure to nudge your Deacs to follow our 3P’s: Pack, Plan, Protect!

As a reminder, students must depart campus by 2 p.m. on December 15. Students who have been approved for Winter Break housing received housing assignment instructions from our team and additional information regarding resources available to them during the break. Our office and the university will close at 3 p.m. on Friday, December 20, and reopen at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, January 6. Residence Halls will reopen for students on January 11. See below for more on Spring 2025 dates.

As we look to Spring 2025, we encourage our Deacs to note the following dates on their calendar:

  • Tuesday, January 7
    • 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. – Actives (i.e., current sisters) Move-In for Sorority Recruitment
    • 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. – Potential New Members (i.e., students going through sorority recruitment) Move-In for Sorority Recruitment
  • Saturday, January 11
    • 9 a.m.– Move-in for ALL students returning to campus, including students moving on to campus for the first time this academic year
  • Monday, January 13 Classes Begin!

For more 2025 dates, take a look at our University’s Academic Calendar.

With the new academic year also comes our 2025-26 Housing Selection process. Housing applications will open on January 22, with selection to take place in April. While students will receive more information in the coming months, we encourage them to take the break to consider some important questions as they prepare for selection: Where do I prefer to live? What should be my expectations based on my housing credits? Who do I prefer to live with? Should I really live with my best friend? Will I be applying to be an RA? If I want to go abroad, when? We’ll help students walk through these questions as we share more info and provide housing selection information sessions in the coming months. For now, encourage your Deacs to carefully consider how they might want their residential experience to look like next year. Our 25-26 Housing Selection schedule for current students can be found here.

Last but certainly not least, students interested in an invaluable student leadership position for the 25-26 academic year should consider applying to be a Resident Adviser (RA)! In addition to the opportunity to build community among their peers, RAs receive a ten-month $5700 stipend and a single room at a discounted rate! Students can visit our website to learn more and apply via their housing portal. Applications are due January 14, 2025.

We look forward to our Deacs finishing the semester strong, enjoying a well-deserved break, and returning in the Spring for a new semester of new memories and experiences.

We hope you have a happy holiday season! Stay warm, stay well, and as always, Go Deacs!
