Off-Campus Petition To Be Released
Wake Forest University views living on-campus as an integral part of a liberal arts education and the Wake Forest experience. In support of that view, Wake Forest University has a policy requiring all students to live on-campus for 3 years.
Students who wish to change their residency status to live with parents at their permanent home residence in the Winston-Salem area may request to be exempted from the policy. Exceptions to the residency requirement for any other reason are typically very rare and only for compelling individual circumstances. If you would like to live off-campus, please submit a petition using the web form below.
Timeline (For students wishing to petition to move off campus for Fall Semester 2017)
1. Priority Consideration:
Petition Form will be available from February 1, 2017 – March 4, 2017
Petition to be Released Decisions – letters will be e-mailed to WFU e-mail addresses by Wednesday, March 24, 2017
All housing and dining membership charges will continue to accrue and are the responsibility of the student until the student is officially released, in writing, from the university residency requirement and the Housing and Dining Membership Agreement.
Students requesting an exception to the university residency requirement should proceed as normal with the room selection process until a decision regarding your petition has been reached.
If you have a roommate, please be courteous and notify them of your intention to leave campus housing.
Cancellation Fee Schedule
Students submitting a Petition form after Friday, March 1, 2017 may be held accountable for a Cancellation Fee, even if the petition is approved.
